Despite staying in a relatively better-off neighbourhood - Adyar, to be precise, there were days without water and one horrendous month when the sewage pipe burst and leaked out into the pipes carrying Metro water. There was a drought in that part of Chennai for a good part of the summer despite the fact that the heaviest rains and a cyclone had all occured the previous December.
