I have had the finest of wines ( a bit wasted on me, as my untrained palatte can not tell the difference between Cabernet Sauvignon and a Mataro Shiraz). I've feasted at the finest restaurants, sipped Cappuccinos in Rome and enjoyed lazy lunches on Parisian sidewalks that made me believe I was Catherine Deneuve.
But nothing tastes as good as curd rice and mango pickle on a hot summer's afternoon. Nothing.

Curd rice, yes. Mango pickle, no. 'Poppadums', yes.

Loved your post on celebrity.

Thair sadakkau Oru periya OO podu. For the non tamils, it is more or less equal to three cheers to Curd Rice.
Many years back I gave company to a banker colleague of mine in Hong Kong who knocked back a substantial amount of Johnny Walker Black Label (in the course of about 5 hurs) and finally went to the Indain Restaurant at Admiralty and ordered -- yes Curd Rice. cant recall if there was pickle. But no self respecting resataurant can serve Curd rice without pickles. I am afraid I cant agree with Shri Prufrock about Poppadums going with Curd Rice. Fried chillies may be yes
